Games Workshop Reveals From Gen Con

Gen Con went back to in-person attendance last week. Games Workshop reveals this weekend unlocked a trove of new models and expansions taking us further into 2021. While we don’t have dates, you know how GW is about that, we can take a good look at what our future holds.

Warhammer Underworlds

The newest seaon of Warhammer Underworlds takes us deep beneath the waves of Ulgu with Harrowdeep. The new season starts with a new 2-player boxed set pitting Thunderstrike Stormcast Eternals versus Orruk Kruleboyz.

Kill Team, part 1

Kill Team: Octarius still populates store shelves, but has disappeared from Games Workshop. The next step for the line releases a smaller Starter Set and each of the featured Kill Teams in individual boxed sets.

So what’s the differrence? The Starter Set drops the large terrain pieces, leaving only the Ork scrap piles and barricades. A shorter Recruit Edition replaces the Octarius campaign book. Finally, a compact version of the Core Rules replaces the full size one from Octarius.

I really need a second Krieg box to build all the options!

Blood Bowl

Khorne’s taken an interest in the classic game of Blood Bowl. After all, he cares not from whom the blood flows, so long as it flows. Enter the Skull-tribe Slaughters! Here’s the rundown – 6 Marauders, 4 Bloodseekers, and 2 Khornegors.

Kill Team, part 2

Remember when the 2021 Kill Team was announced? We got a look at the projected roadmap with new Warzones emerging every 3 months. Well, the next Warzone takes us far into the Imperium Nihilus to the Chalnath sector. Far removed from the Emperor’s light, benighted citizens turn to strange xenos for salvation.

Let me guess, T’au?

Bearing the Emperor’s Truth and setting fire to everything in their way come the Adepta Sororitas. For this release, we’re getting Novitiates, aspiring Battle Sisters clad in fitted carapace and armed with a large variety of lethal melee weapons and autoguns and pistols.

The T’au Empire leads the way with Pathfinder teams. These teams bear new equipment and advanced technology. While the base of the unit is the old Pathfinder kit, it includes a new upgrade sprue filled with heads, options, and tools to spread the Greater Good.

Of course, the boxed set includes new rules, missions, and a block’s worth of Imperial terrain.

Necromunda

With all the violence and lawlessness in the Underhive you’d think there would be more than House gangs fighting to stay afloat. And, you’d be right. Take a look at the true dregs of Necromunda!

Just look at their quality arms and armor! More seriously, they’re the gang to play if your looking for a change from the orchestrated House look. Each model wears different bitz and pieces of of repurposed protective gear and patchwork armor. Weapons are practical and reliable. We’ll see what tricks they’re up to in the main book.

Finally, Necromunda receives a set of laidback civilian scenery with the Underhive Market. Just the place to kickback and do a little shopping, extortion, or smash and grab!

Warhammer 40,000 – Black Templars

We knew their arrival was pending, but here we get to see the new Army Set. This box contains 13 models, 12 of them new, a full art Codex Supplement, datacards, and a 226 decal transfer sheet to mark your entire crusade!

Marshall
Emperor’s Champion

The 10-man Crusader Squad contains the mix of power armor marines and scouts you’d expect. However, those are awfully tall scouts! Turns out, the Black Templars are putting newly recruited Primaris through the same service as previous Neophytes. Upholding the traditions of the chapter!

Warcry

Not a reveal, but a teaser in the form of a Mortal Realms nursery rhyme.

I’ll put 5 on grot scuttlings. Bet they grow them big underground.

Thanks for reading to the end of the Games Workshop reveals. We’ll post more info on the releases as we get information to share. Till then, game on!
