The new Codex: Death Guard features five key changes to their rules. Today we’ll be looking over the preview for the Death Guard’s Deadly Pathogens rule.
With Deadly Pathogens, the second of these changes, models armed with Plague Weapons may buy an upgrade. To begin, the Plague Weapon’s Strength increases by one. In addition, it grants one of seven effects.
For example, Viscous Death permits the model to reroll the number of attacks a weapon makes.
Pair that with the Lord of Virulence’s Twin Plague Spewer (shown below) for a very nasty combination.
Here’s where he stands after the upgrade
Strength 6 – Deadly Pathogens upgrade
reroll of Heavy 2D6 attacks – Viscous Death effect
reroll 1’s to wound – Plague Weapon effect
He’s just begging you to charge him. Do you want to chance it? Probably not!
You’ll be seeing this and other options on units throughout the Death Guard. Plague Marines, Possessed, and more. GW’s going to hold tight to the other six effects you can choose with Death Guard’s Deadly Pathogens for now.
